Facial filler injections are an available treatment at Orbit Eye Centre in Calgary. A facial filler injection is used to fill or thicken areas to temporarily provide a smoother and younger appearance. The effects of facial filler injections last about six months and the injections can be repeated as needed. This treatment is an alternative to cosmetic facial surgery or Botox injections.
Filler injections are performed to smooth out facial creases to provide a healthier and younger appearance. Fillers are injected with a very fine needle to carefully and thoroughly fill in worry lines and other wrinkles on the patient’s face. Filler remains in the skin wrinkle folds for months at a time but is eventually absorbed by the body. Sometimes multiple sessions are needed to provide the desired effect.
The effects of filler injections last for about six months before another treatment is recommended. This timeframe can be different from person to person. The determining factors of how long an injection will last include overall skin health, age and the type and severity of wrinkles or skin defects that need to be filled.
Facial filler injections are a medically accepted procedure done by skilled professionals. They are very low-risk procedures carried out in an eye clinic setting. In general, the frequency of side effects is related to the experience and skill of the professional.
Some of the side effects include, but are not limited to:
