Skin rejuvenation or photo rejuvenation treatment can remove or improve facial discolouration and lesions caused by sun exposure. At Orbit Eye Centre, skilled technicians treat facial skin conditions that have been caused by sun damage. Some of those conditions include sunspots, capillary damage, fine lines, and actinic elastosis (accumulation of abnormal tissue in the skin).
The advanced technology used for this treatment is called IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light therapy. This treatment uses a broad spectrum of specific light wavelengths absorbed mostly by oxyhemoglobin and melanin in the skin. This allows for targeted treatment of skin changes.
This procedure is equally successful for younger and older patients who have had a lot of sun exposure in their lives.
The following conditions and results can be treated and achieved by IPL therapy:
IPL Skin Rejuvenation is performed by a skilled Technician at the Orbit Eye Centre.
The treatment takes between fifteen minutes to half an hour. It may take several visits to obtain the best results. A set of a minimum of 3 treatments is recommended for best results. Treatments are usually one month apart.
It is common to have some redness in the treated areas immediately after treatment. There might also be some mild bruising present that may last a few days. Patients who decide to get the treatment are asked to avoid direct sunlight a few days after the procedure and always use sunblock when spending time outside.
IPL treatments are not a permanent solution for some skin conditions. Maintenance treatments are usually required once a year after the initial 3 sessions are completed.
Contraindications to IPL treatments include:
